Clay's Smoke House Grill

Hung over and heading out for sushi, might not sound like the best idea to you, but that's what we were attempting to do. The place we'd picked however closes between lunch and dinner and we'd just missed it. So we continued on down the street and spotted Clay's Smokehouse Grill http://clayssmokehouse.ypguides.net/
I was a little skeptical because I wanted vegetarian, but I was delighted to discover a local made veggie burger that was fabulous! My friends ate catfish they claimed to be well done. Their coleslaw is made with oil and poppyseeds was fresh, unique and delicious!
The beer was a little warm - but the selection was ok.

I give Clay's Smoke House Grill 4/5 pints.

WinKing Toad

Is it Win King? Winking? Beats the hell out of me, but they serve pizza by the pie and pizza by the slice. There are a few other things on the menu too. Slice choices are limited to basics, cheese, pepperoni, and whatever the days special is. You will get them quicker than a pie if you're in a hurry though. Slices are big enough to split and that's precisely what I did, my Aunty and I split a slice of cheese and ordered a Caesar salad for the table. The cheese slice was Chicago style and completely edible though not outstanding (it is pizza after all). The Caesar on the other hand was absolutely thee worst salad I have ever had. The problem with this salad was that rather than serving it with a couple of lemon slices the dude in the kitchen must have taken a Jif http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jif_(lemon_juice) and squeezed about half of it into the dressing before sending it out. Maybe it was the americanization of it that made me dislike it ... who knows? You can find a TERRIFIC recipe for my kind of Caeser here: http://www.grouprecipes.com/46082/real-caesar-dressing.html
So if you just want some quick, down and dirty slices enjoy. If you're looking for taste ... IDK. Oh yeah and this is another one of those places that serves their beer warm (I nearly asked my waiter if this is the temp. they always serve beer at or if there is a problem).
I didn't find a website for this place or I'd link you ... sorry :(

Deschutes Brew Pub Bend

Dined at this restaurant for lunch with our two boys. We each enjoyed a pint of the Black Butte Porter while the kids sodas came with lids and straws! (Bonus). Our server was prompt and friendly. The boys had no problem ordering with her, even if they're a bit shy sometimes. The children's menu had a fantastic variety of items to choose from and the boys devoured their chicken strips and corndog (both with fries). I didn't find any vegetarian options on the menu that were overwhelmingly tempting, but I did enjoy the veggie option I chose.
The location is prime for walking to window shop or enjoy the summer festival as we were. Parking was quit limited, but the lunch hour was not too busy and we did not have to wait to be seated.
see it here: http://www.deschutesbrewery.com/brewery/brew-pubs/bend-pub/default.aspx
I give this place three point five pints simply because I can not for the life of me recall what I ate.

Opinions of Carmella

This blog is meant to review my experiences in the food department. I really REALLY like to eat food especially if I don't have to cook it. You're experiences will certainly be different than mine and you may or may not agree with me. All comments and stories are welcomed.
My rating system will use 0 - 5 pints, 0 being not worth a beer at all and five being the best rating I give. Other than that I haven't really figured out a format, so sorry if I seem to be bouncing around a bit.
Thanks for following and commenting.

Old St. Francis School McMenamins

We decided to take our two boy (9 & 10) to eat at McMenamins during the Bend Summer Festival because it was within walking distance. The day was hot, but the enclosed outdoor seating allowed for enough shade to make the experience comfortable. Our server was prompt and interacted well with the children. He even allowed one of them to start the fire pit up as it sun began to fade. We ordered the Ruby Ale (always a favorite of mine) which has a smooth texture and a gently sweet taste.
We were able to put in the kids orders right away and ours after deliberation, perfect for hungry kids. I had the hummus platter. It was precisely as one would expect for a hummus platter, perhaps a bit bigger. (I had leftovers).
After diner we walked through the building to use the bathroom and admire the decor and art.
All in all the experience was wonderful.
You can check it out here: http://www.mcmenamins.com/index.php?loc=98
I'll give it four pints.
